Rhythmology is a Long Island-based salsa network founded by professional salsa dancer, Alfred Pena. Through group class instruction, Rhythmology fuses Latin technique with the versatility of social dancing, while maintaining character and appeal. It is the mission of Rhythmology to provide dancers of all ages and levels with a unique program of salsa music and dance appreciation, instruction, and performance that seeks to fulfill each student's potential, while creating a model of artistic excellence that enriches the Long Island community. Rhythmology is the study of rhythm and balance. In order to become an excellent dancer, one must understand how the body moves and how music impacts body movement. Our philosophy is to teach a systematic approach to leading that is smooth and efficient, and to teach followers to take greater responsibility for self-movement. Therefore, our curriculum emphasizes efficiency of movement, elegance, and body isolations. By focusing on control, timing, and precision of technique, dancers can aim for smooth execution of tightly woven and complex patterns.
